「竹雕四勿」作者陳銘堂，竹雕技法大致可分為刺雕、線雕、陰雕、陽雕、浮雕、圓雕等型式，所使用材料以刺竹、桂竹、人面竹、孟宗竹等為主。此件作品以刺竹地下莖為材料，以活潑兔子當主題，用圓雕型式來表現兔子可愛又逗趣的個性，從其肢體的位置、臉部的表情、流露的眼神，可看出作者對兔子的生活形態觀察入微，然後以高超的雕刻技法來雕出如此傳神的佳作，這是ㄧ件微妙微俏又饒富趣味的竹雕藝品。

The materials used are thorny bamboo, makino bamboo, golden bamboo, and moso bamboo. This piece is made from the root of thorny bamboo. And by using the lively rabbit as a theme, the cute and fun-loving personality of the rabbit is expressed with freestanding sculpting. From the facial expression, eyesight, and the position he puts the limbs, we can see that the artist is very observant. He uses exceptional sculpting skills to create such a vivid and interesting piece of bamboo carving.
