Isn’t “Nest” similar to “Sparkling ripples”? This piece is also made by Ms. Yeh Bao-Lien . The main materials used are scraped makino bamboo strips and wicker peel. Using star-sign weaving, the body first uses three-ply braids as setting, as the abdomen is formed by layered and bundled bamboo strips irregularly twisted, and the inner layer consists of cylindrical lining woven in square-style. The technique used to round off the rim is unique and quite difficult. Bamboo strips must be hand-split into thin slices and coiled, and then secured with wicker into the shape of a worm. The foothold is made with twisted thin wicker peel. Natural lacquer is applied multiple times to form a rustic color. The patterns in this piece seem to be random at first glance, but there is a sense of order within the randomness. The texture resembles the grass and the shape resembles the nest. Hence the name.
