　　The Nantou County is rich in its bamboo resources, during the Japanese Colonial Period the Linpipu Dapingding area located in this county southeastern part, was renowned for Moso Bamboo forests with large and beautiful expanse, green rolling hills, so it was named Zhushan(Bamboo Mountain); The government set up a Bamboo Special Processing Zone in Zhushan’s Yanping district in 1974 to promote the bamboo industry. In 1987, in order to carry forward the characteristics of cultural relics in each county and city, the former Executive Yuan Cultural Construction Committee (now the Ministry of Culture), specially entrusted the Professor Shao-Ying Jiang to plan and set up the Bamboo Art Museum, officially opened on May, 29, 1988, to be the first one enabled Local cultural relics Museum in Taiwan. The "Bamboo Art Museum" set-up, is to highlight the traditional and modern bamboo art as its main content, to express the meaning that inherit the past to create the future and stretch prosperity.
　　This Bamboo Art Museum moved from the Cultural Office basement to its first floor site for re-opening and enabled on September 10, 2001, covering an area of 503 square meters, installed in entrance common in Taiwan has six kinds of bamboo introduction, bamboo art crafts(Including bamboo weaving, bamboo carving, bamboo skewer, laminated material etc.), Introduction panels and Computer interactive games, besides Museum planning bamboo carving & weaving area, farm fishing and hunting equipment area, modern bamboo craft area, outdoor appliances area, marry festive ritual area, building traffic bamboo art area, bamboo house & furniture area and other classic artworks permanent display area, also matched with the theme of relevant activities, to provide the bamboo artists for creation display platform with the special exhibition area; In addition, the software part is to enrich the bamboo relevant graphic information, and add to set up the audio-visual media and audio guide system. No matter where the visiting people came locally or far from here, through exquisite and delicate exhibition hall presenting, can experience the compatible with tradition and modernity, rich depth for bamboo art intellectual journey.
