  Namakaban is the indigenous community name, located in the Fengqiu village south district, Xinyi Township, Nantou County, at Chen You-lan Creek tributary Namakaban Greek north side, the community name came from the Cao tribe "Fertile Plain" words translation. During the Qing dynasty Guangxu years, the Imperial court ordered to build the road and Pacify aboriginals, in addition set up the school. When Chen Shi-Lie acted as the member of Yunlin reclamation Bureau in the 13th year of Guangxu, where set up a Ban school to afford the Alishan "aborigines" for studying, but later because the education method is not appropriate and not teaching right in accordance with their aptitude, students no longer go to school, Ban School was also gradually deserted.
  Newly built a Cement pentagonal pavilion on Namakaban school site for people staying around, there is a wash stone tablet at aside, upper section inserted the "Wanxingguan" original monument, was mentioned: "Spring time in the 13th year of Guangxu", below engraved with "Ridge-south Chen, Shijie built". Monument below section inserted the "Wanxingguan Monument record" was established in August, 1981.
  The Namakaban school, during the Taiwan province creating period that Mr. Liu, Mingchuan followed Mr. Shen, Baozhen "Build the road and Pacify aboriginals" policy with all reclamation measures, is the most concrete manifestation, also is the forerunner to push the education system to the rear mountain area, despite of the abortive outcome, the historical remains are still meaningful with conservation significance.
